Work in progress.
Finishing a two-seater rockable seat.
Involved lots of steam-bending and
laminating to get the curves. Maybe a
finish in black to enhance the form but
I do like that sun-bleached look.
Just put together this sideboard in NZ kauri.
The drawers and door panels have a figured
grain that reflects light as is unique to this timber.
Have nearly finished sculpturing the sun lounger as winter
approaches!..... but mounted at my workshop back door it will
be great to relax on at smoko time!
Harking back to olden days with this oak sideboard
that was designed to cover a wall heater in the summer.
The sides are housed directly into the turnings to make it
all appear as a boxed in table.
Working on a TV/entertainment unit in oak. Will house a 32 inch TV
plus storage for dvd's etc. The whole front has doors in the style of
my previous project as seen down this page .
Using swamp rimu to create this new
hallstand that incorporates a mirror
plus storage chest.
Nearing completion on a set of rimu
chairs in the same swamp darkened
rimu. They will have black leather
padded seats.
One for the garden: a balinese style
Bale'. The top will be thatched with flax
or cabbage tree leaves. See the
carved detail on the posts. Studied
examples in Bali in July to reproduce
this one!
Starting on a TV unit using figured fastigata gum.
The front comprising drawers will be concave and
have veneers of myrtle.
